This château was classified a historical monument in 1962, and it is a real treasure of the architecture of that period. Designed by the renowned, royal architect, Le Primatice, it combines all the features of a ceremonial building at the forefront of modernity. It was described by Thierry Crépin-Leblond as “a Renaissance masterpiece whose beauty, size and architecture rival the castles of the Loire valley”.
